A night at The Crazy Bear Hotel
The attention to detail at The Crazy Bear Hotel is like no-where I have stayed before. Located on the quaint high street of Beaconsfield is this little gem of a boutique, hosting 45 flamboyantly themed rooms, two restaurants, a beautiful bar area and even an outdoor swimming pool. The perfect setting for special occasions, we spent the night to celebrate my better half’s birthday.
The bar area is worth the visit alone, filled with exotic taxidermy, a beautifully decorated stairwell, enviable furniture.. and then there are the cocktails!
Note the taxidermy are all animals that have died from natural causes.
We booked a superior room, and as expected the interior of the room really was so well implemented. We were on the top floor (out of two)! and so had the extra detail of the high open ceiling and exposed wooden beams. The room stuck to a theme of black and gold, with pleather (I think)! floors and quilted walls. You can definitely get a feel for how grand this building once would have been. If I had to choose a favorite feature then it would have to be the extra large copper bath – you can see in the image below how the water comes from above!
*I did slip out this bath and slid across the room on the cute but somewhat impractical leather floor.. but that stories for another day!!
Although the room is on a busy road and high street I had an excellent night sleep (something I’m very precious about), and can’t fault the cleanliness of the room, the amenities or the welcoming from the staff. We stayed on a Monday evening which is the only night the Thai restaurant within the hotel is closed (typical)!, but the menu for the English restaurant was equally as enticing. If you do decide to eat elsewhere there looked to be lots of nice looking local restaurants within Beaconsfield as well as a Giggling Squid and Pizza Express across the street!
Take a look at the hotels’ website to see the gallery images of the other rooms – The Crazy Bear Hotel
I would 100% come back here to experience what the other rooms are like, that’s the beauty of boutique hotels – there’s always an excuse to return! As well as Beaconsfield The Crazy Bear group also have a hotel in Stadhampton, and a restaurant in Fitzrovia, London. I’d really only recommend this place to couples – it’s definitely not the kind of place for a business trip or family holiday!
Locally to Beaconsfield, you have the city of Oxford, as well as attractions such as Bicester Village and Thorpe Park to name a few.
